Final update for the contest at the Daily Dimwit...

Back on the 17th of December, The Daily Dimwit announced the "winner" of his pick 5 cards contest.
Well, I was the winner of the randomization, after which, in a grand show of Christmas spirit, the Dimwit announced that everybody won. As the first winner, I was guaranteed my original pick of the following five cards: Roy Oswalt SP Authentic, Chase Utley Faces of the Game, Cole Hamels Icons Foil, Jimmy Rollins Icons, and the Bowman Heritage Jamie Moyer.

Well, they showed up in yesterday's mail, imagine my surprise when there were 10 cards instead of the 5 I'd picked out, including a Cole Hamels Icons base card, Cliff Lee Icons base card, Chase Utley Icons base card, and an Aaron Rowand Upper Deck card.

No, this is not the new math, I left the 10th card for last, cause it blew me away, totally made my week complete, having pulled my first relic card from a pack of cards Tuesday morning, I received my second relic card courtesy of the Daily Dimwit, and I could not be happier with his choice of surprises:

A 2009 Allen & Ginter's Utley Game Used Jersey Relic card!

Thanks Sam, too freakin Awesome!!

A snowy trip to Target...

Ventured forth into the snowy south-east yesterday, and bought three packs of cards whilst at Target.
2 packs of Topps Update and 1 discounted pack of 2007 Fleer Ultra.
The update packs yielded several base cards for my set, and a couple doubles that will probably go in the mail this week.
The Fleer, on the other hand...
Advertising 5 cards per pack for the $1.59 buying price yielded 4 keepers and two extras.
Yes, that's right, a bonus 6th card in the pack.
The results:
a Josh Beckett for my Red Sox PC
a Joe Nathan for my Twins PC
a J.J. Hardy for my PTWT#7 PC (Players That Wear the #7)

a Rafael Furcal from the Dodgers (up for grabs)
a Kevin Kouzmanoff from the Padres (up for grabs)

Oh, and that 6th card that was in the pack, one for my Yankees collection, a genuine Derek Jeter Faces of the Game, Jersey relic card!! Yep, that's right, my first Relic card, pulled from a pack. I can now change my vote for the Mojo pack to this one!!Pretty danged cool. Yeah, it's only a gray swatch, but it's my gray swatch!! Not bad at all for $1.59.

Thanks for reading, have a GReat day!!

Merry Christmas Jeremy... Thanks for the comment and idea.

That one was relatively simple.
If you try this at home, send me pictures, please. BA Benny may even approve of this one!

The other New York team hat is for one that I've been toying with for a while. Will share later.
Random thought #1, I wonder if Mr. Rollins would autograph one if I sent it to him??
Random thought #2, combine the hat, jersey, and another person's character from the WW, and you got yourself a little Mets fan!!

Just print them out (cardstock 8 1/2"x11" works best), carefully cut them, creating slots and tabs, then fold, insert tab A into slot A etc., and there you are! No glue or tape necessary. No warranty provided, expressed or implied. Please do NOT run with scissors! No actual Baseball players were harmed in the making of this project.

I've lost track...

Who had the Christmas Song post going on their blog?

And now for something COMPLETELY different, Part II...

But this is still baseball related. A few months ago, I spent some bored moments searching the world wide and discovered the art of Cubeecraft. What is this you ask, it's the art of making things out of paper, specifically, little figures.

In searching for some of my favorite people, I noticed there were no baseball figures. There were some for hockey, many for football, many, many for sci-fi and other related genres, the five person cast of The Big Bang Theory (who are currently attending a KISS concert on the desk behind me!), but absolutely no baseball. Upon finding a blank template, I decided to take it upon myself to rectify this situation.

So without further ado, I give you two, brand new to the web, one now in the wrong uniform, genuine Major League Baseball Cubees!! So, go ahead, put a little J-Roll under your tree this year!!

So,

Not a bad result for half a Fiver

Looks like BA Benny is getting into the Contest spirit as well. All you have to do is get inside his head, and figure out how many keepers he pulled from his latest trip to Rite Aid. Go on over here and read all about it. The trick is you gotta be quick, as there are a limited amount of correct answers available, and it's first come first served!

So, there you are, right where I left you, did you enter? Pretty nifty stuff.

More Snail Mail Box fun...

Got another Fan Pack in yesterday's mail. This one from the Red Sox, which included:
1 - Letter of appreciation from Phil Derick, Fenway Ambassador
1 - Bag of "Fenway" dirt
1 - 4" round Sox sticker
1 - 4"x6" Kevin Youkilis photo
1 - Red Sox Foundation rubber bracelet (not pictured)
and it came in a manilla envelope with no mistaking who it was from.
Pretty cool from one simple little email.
