H e ' s B A C K ! ! !

AWESOME GOOD TIMES AHEAD!!

Just read this morning that my favorite pitcher has made the rotation for this year.
Which Phillie is that you may ask? None other than Rockies Numba 2 starter, Jamie Moyer!!

I was really hoping he'd get a chance to come back this year after his Tommy Johns surgery and rehab last season, and my prayers have been answered. I sent a ROMLB to him at his ESPN job last year and he was kind enough to sign it and send it back to me.

Way to Go Mr. Moyer!! Thanks for the autograph. Do me proud and have fun out there, I'll be watching!!

So, what have you received in you mailbox recently?

I just love this picture!

Ramblilng on at the mailbox...

Anybody who's followed a blog or two has run across a post that goes on forever. The Troll is infamous for them. Where he finds the tidbits that he includes just astounds me. As you are reading, you begin to wonder if the post is ever going to end, but each and every word is well worth the reading, so you trudge on through. Yesterday's Post is a GReat example.

Well, I got an envelope in the mail yesterday, from everyone's favorite Troll, that did exaclty just that! I started pulling card after card, after mini, after vintage, after... Well, just goes to say, I've got a lot of scanning and posting and filing to do over the  next few weeks. Anybody that has traded with the Troll knows what great things these packages hold. Anybody that has NOT traded with the Troll is a Stone-Blind Fool that begs for one question, "What the $*@$^ are you $@#&* witing for?, an engraved invitation?"

Well, consider this your invitation to look him up, and shoot over an email!!

Just a tease of some goodness to come:

I don't have many autographs, and most of those are not Phillies, so this was an awesomely un-expected surprise to include, and, sorry Julie, but this Von Hayes is definitely NOT headed your way.

So GO, GO NOW, TRADE...
Thanks for the goodies there Troll, I will find a way to get even!!
Have a GReat day!

Stolen Goods...

Sometimes, a little theivery is Big Fun, not to mention, very rewarding...

Good Ole Doon is up to his hijinks again, hosting another highly successful and entertaining round of his ever popular Big Fun Game. I was lucky enough to gain entry into this latest fray, choosing 6th in line amongst the available doors.

Better yet in my case, stealing the once stolen, and now frozen, prize from behind door #10. Though it would not have been my first choice of doors, Hackenbush chose this door and revealed 2 1955 Graded Topps Baseball cards. Which were then promptly swiped by the Lost Collector. Knowing the rules of said swiping, a second swipe would secure the above mentioned goodness for myself.

A zip and a pop and a few days later, 1955 Graded goodness graces my humble abode:

A very nice example of 1955 Boston Red Sox,

and, also a very nice example of 1955 Topps, even though it is a Cubbie!!

thanks for the contest there Doon, as it was indeed, another round of very Big Fun!

a Fantastic Catch, indeed

Weston, who runs the blog over at Fantastic Catch, contacted me about some cards from several of my want lists. I'm telling you guys, these want lists are THE BOMB when it comes to trades. I've received so much help, from something so simple, go ahead, put one up, I double-dog-dare you!!

anyhoo, he sent me several opening day needs from the list, a couple of minis, including the 2012 Roy Halladay. Then he sent me a stack, and by stack, I mean a fricking huge pile of stuff for my 2010 Upper Deck set, a total of 60 cards that I no longer have to find!!

Any trade that involves Mascots is AWESOME in my book!!

Thanks for the trade Weston, if anybody else can help the lad out, go on over and take a peak at his want list, it's on the bottom of his blog page.

My want lists are up to date as well, I'm down to very few inserts left to finishmy 2011 Opening day set now, if anybody has PFP-1, UL-9, or SE-3 to spare, these would finish those insert sets.

Birthday Update in honor,...

of this month's activities. I posted way back in January about the awesome birthday present my wife got me. The Home Run Heroes Mickey Figurine:

Well, I slipped up and have actually received the next two in the series, but as I eluded to in my post title, In honor of this month's MLB activities, I have had both the pitcher:

and catcher report:

Too cool, and PATP, correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think Donald is making a play at the plate since he has tossed his mask to the ground in anticipation!!

Too Funny, and just check out the scowl on his face  too, "You ain't gettin past me!!"

and Goofy's, well, he's Goofy!

Probably going to try a screwball!!

Men may be from Mars, But these cards are from Zenus!

Zenus Barnes, from over at Prowling Cat Collecting. He doesn't have a blog per say, but he definitely has want lists, need lists, and other useful information over there. Go on and check it out.
He contacted me last week about some cards for my '07 Opening Day Set, a reply or two later, a trade was born. I say trade, but at this point, I've not sent my end of the bargain out yet, even though I got his side yesterday.

And my peeps just can't send me a package without addin in a few Phils for my PCs, I just frickin love it!!! How appropriate is the Purina Pete Rose card!! I may have to chase after that whole set one of these days!

I pulled a bunch of mascot cards for him and was hoping to add from my box of 2012 Opening Day that I picked up last night, but alas, tis not to be this year. Hell I'm not even close to finishing ANY of the inserts from this year. I'm not even sure I have a complete base set at this point. The only thing I am sure of so far is that my Carlos Lee card does not have a card number on the back of it. I wonder if they are all like that? If you are Listening Topps, from a set collecting perspective, maybe fewer insert sets would help us finish from fewer than a case of product!!

Anyhow, Zenus, thanks for the cards and the help. I will get something out to you in the next week, gotta find something else to fill the envelope up a bit...

If anybody else in my readership can help him out, please do so, and as always, tellem ole Dawgbones sentcha!!

Have a GReat weekend!!

P.S. I am going to be out of touch this weekend as my 2-day motorcycle license training course is Saturday and Sunday, so it may take a day or two to answer any emails/comments. But I will answer eventually!!
Wish Mrs. Dawgbones and I luck!

Opening Day was Yesterday... (updated)

for the cards any way. Bought a box this year, still need the rest of the mascot cards. Gonna put a list up soon. The wants page has been updated.

some scans:

I buy this set mainly for the Mascot cards, love me some Philly Phanatic... need that one by the way!
some more scans:

I think Topps actually got this right, notice the team color coded borders... Very Nice!

and one back, notice anything, Beuller, Beuller... Anything at all??

Wonder if all of Lee's Opening Day cards are like this? According to the latest checklist I could find, he is supposed to be card #220.

Ok, WTF Topps? Seriously, the collation on the Opening Day cards (@99 cents a pack), I end up with almost a complete base set, 14 missing and only 6 duplicates, if you count Blue Bordered Numbered Parallels as duplicates. Why can't you do this well at a higher price point??

And damn, do I hate buying more packs just to get 14 cards, or the Mascots!!Oh well, keep me in mind if you end up with something that might could help me out please. My wants are up to date...

thanks for reading.
Have a GReat night!

Another eBay outing...

Picked up the other Phillies World Series pin, for only a $1.50 more than I really wanted to spend. Hoped to get both the Schmidt and Hamels for $20, spent $21.50. Not too bad.

Bumped

Found another new (or at least new to me) Phillies Blog, We Should Be GMs,and they were kind enough to send me three bumper stickers. How cool is that??!

this is their blog header, pretty slick.
If I'm understanding this correctly, a Phucco is a player that has played for both organizations (Phillies & Pirates)
This is another Baseball Blog, loosely associated with WSBGMs, Love the mix of Logo Letters in this one!

Thanks guys,

Cards from beneath the Bridge...

Everybody's favorite Troll sent me a little care package last week, consisting of cards from my want lists, cards for my PCs, cards I've asked about, and just cards for cards' sake!!
Enjoy!
Appreciate the Boozer card there Troll, but I quit drinking years ago, 1995, I think, anywhoo, vintage Phillies are always welcome here in Southeastern Va.

More Kimballs off that list!! Whoo Hoo!! Plus a few off the others. I must agree somewhat with the general consensus for the Walk Off inserts. I feel that they are a very nice design, but to me, all that grey just screams MORE! Something is just missing. Maybe if they made the team logo bigger?

I don't know why, but I like the Royal Wedding card, this version is the mini, pulled/upgraded/replaced from Troll's Frankenset, Spankee has the regular issue on hold for me as well and I look forward to all the cards he has for me cause his bubblers do not disappoint either!

Once again, my favorite Troll has not failed to impress me with his generosity, nor his keen selection of varied, yet equally desirable, offerings. I look forward to opening each and every envelope or box that has his familiar scrawl on it.

Our packages actually crossed in the mail, having left our towns and arrived in our towns on the same days as well!!

Thanks for reading, Thanks for the cards Troll, I'll have to find something interesting to "get even" with you for these.
Have a Great weekend!
