Year End Favorites

My absolute favorite Autograph. And I didn't even pull it from a pack of cards!! I got it from a contest earlier this summer:

Thanks Fuji, I've wanted one of these since I started reading the blogs and spied it on yours. And was the major contributing facto in my entrance in your contest, it was a blast. Hope you do it again next year.

Wow, 365 days, and 365+ posts, my goal for 2011 was to try and average one post per day.
My goal for next year, hell, who am I kidding, it's to learn to ride my new Harley and spend as much time as I can on it and not a computer!!

Be safe tonight everybody, and we'll see you again next year!!
Happy New Year Gang!
Have a GReat night!!

What do you get from a Rack Pack and a single pack!

Of 2011 Updates? You get shorted again, TWICE.

What are the odds that you'd purchase a single pack, then a few days later, buy a rack pack, and pull a short printed card out of each?

Now how about the odds that one is a regular short print and the other a diamond bedazzled card?

OK, finally, what if it was the same card?

A US42 Frank Thomas designated hitter card:

Gotta love that #7 jersey in the picture as well!!
Way to go Topps!! Thanks

My Favorite Christmas find...

Every year, I try and find something unique for my wife for christmas. Sometimes it's a peice of artwork. Other times it's some toy or another. This year I really lucked out.
Her favortie movie series "Of all time!!" is the Saw set.

Last year, I bought her several bead style charms for her Pandora bracelet, and wrapped them in a Billy Cubee. Billy, for those that have not seen the movie, is the puppet that Jigsaw used in all of his videos.

This year, while searching for something else at Toys-R-Us, I lucked across a vinyl version of Billy, and could noot resist picking him up.

Now, how do I wrap this up for Christmas, or the other things (except for the Harley, that just gets a bow!) I've gotten her.

She also loves the cheesy monster/horror movies, so quick as a flash, to the internet I go, googling Christmas Zombies, some minor cutting/pasting/re-sizing. Hit the Print button, and... PRESTO!

Her very own Zombie Christmas wrapping paper!! Hope she likes it.
I wish everybody the happiest of Christmasses nad a very Merry New Year to come!!

two more:
I don't think the Phils  like being boxed in, not even a future Phillie in these packs, but the Reyes and Campaign inserts are good additions to those PCs.

2008 was a GReat year...

For obvious reasons for me. Today I post the first two packs from a discount blaster of 2008 Topps Series 2, which promises to yield at least 1 Game Used Memorabilia card.

No actual Phillies today, but we did get a future Phillie with Mr. Ibanez.

Another Quick Contest Post

My good blogging buddy over at Sports Card Blog.net is having a contest of sorts. He's made some semi-obscure reference to an episode of “The Office” where Michael decides to play “Yankee Swap” with the Secret Santa gifts?

But I recognize and know it better from my participation in the Adventures of Napkin Doon's Big Fun contest earlier this past summer. Where I won this:

the first time and this:

the second time.

I had an absolute blast with the two times I played over there and this looks to be shaping up to be just as much fun

Anyhow, go on over and check it out, and as always, tellem Dawgbones sentcha!!

Annoyances...

Ok, blogger is really starting to annoy the crap out of me. Anybody else having issues.

I now have to sign in several times in order to leave a comment on anybody's posts. It is giving me the same you don't have access or rights, or some other line of bullshit!!
It relly needs to say, Yeah, we effed up and can't figure out how to fix our screw-up!!

I try to comment on posts where I feel I can have an impact (yes, even if it's only being sarcastic) but damn this is getting annoying!!

I'm also going to run an experiment. Yesterday's post got an extraordinary amount of "views", I thinking it was because it contained the word contest. Let's see if the one word does the same today...

I'll take curtain #3 Please, Monty

A little while back, Matt F., over at Heartbreaking Cards of Staggering Genius, had a moment of weakness, stealing an idea from Thorzul. Whereas he wanted us, the general reading public, to take some of his inserts and relics off of his hands, in exchange for a few items off of his want lists.

Well, I could not resist sending him a few cards in exchange for two of his offered cardboard goodies. They showed up in Monday's post:

very nice Moyer relic for that PC, plus a bronzed bedazzled Liquorfractor from this year's updates for my Phillies, Chooch.

Thanks for the trade Matt, hope you enjoy what I sent you.

Diamond Hi-Jinks...

Well, It seems as though I am now 11 codes shy of the 45 rings. And I completed a trade of all the miscellaneous cards in my virtual collection for the diamond die-cut of Chooch, wheedling it down to 5 cards, make that 6 with the addition of today's unlocked 1980 junk wax, thanks for nothing, I'm not having that one shipped, card of:

Mark Wagner 1980

Mark Wagner / Shortstop / Detroit Tigers
Card Number: 29

I now have 4 diamond die-cuts and a 2007 Topps base card to go with today's unlocked CRAP.

2011 Cole Hamels

Cole Hamels / Pitcher / Philadelphia Phillies
Card Number: DDC-72
Qty:1

2011 Carlos Ruiz

Carlos Ruiz / Catcher / Philadelphia Phillies
Card Number: DDC-44
Qty:1

2011 Ryan Zimmerman

Ryan Zimmerman / Third Base / Washington Nationals
Card Number: DDC-55
Qty:1

Jason Marquis 2007

Jason Marquis / Pitcher / St. Louis Cardinals
Card Number: 178
Qty:1

But, let's see what kind of offers are being made today:

Now this is the kind of offer that one might expect, 30 different Phillies for 1 Phillie die-cut! Of course, the oldest card in the bunch is showing, a 1990, really? Sorry, even as late as I am entering the collecting world, I've received most of these cards from trades over the last year! Nope, DECLINE!

next:

A 1976 checklist card ! Are you for real? I've been screwed by the transmogrifier with one of these already, I'm not gonna screw myself with this crap, get a few more vintage and maybe I'll not laugh quite so hard!!
This is not even worth the effort of clicking DECLINE!!

another checklist, and only the checklist! Here's a hint, Ain't NOBODY gettin my Hamels!!  NEXT:

Wow, now this is impressive:

70 cards:  Al Luplow 1964, Jim Fairey 1973, Mike Jorgensen 1974, Mike Cosgrove 1976, Lee Richard 1976, Jerry DaVanon 1977, Carlos Lopez 1978, Larry Herndon 1978, Rob Sperring 1978, Dave Campbell 1979, Bo Diaz 1979, Ted Cox 1979, Eduardo Rodriguez 1979, Marty Pattin 1979, Barry Foote 1979, Tim Johnson 1979, Darrel Chaney 1979, Larry Milbourne 1979, Wilbur Wood 1979, Dennis Leonard 1979, Duffy Dyer 1979, Dan Spillner 1979, Paul Reuschel 1979, Rick Monday 1979, Del Unser 1979, Rennie Stennett 1979, Highlights Card 1980, Roy Thomas 1980, Gary Roenicke 1980, Mitchell Page 980, Claudell Washington 1981, Tony Scott 1981, Adrian Devine 1981, Don Sutton 1982, Chris Welsh 1982, Dennis Lamp 1982, Tim Stoddard 1983, Joe Nolan 1983, Frank Robinson 1983, Mike Proly 1983, Bryan Little 1984, Rick Sweet 1984, Mike Scott 1985, Terry Whitfield 1985, Bob Lillis 1985, Greg Booker 1985, Jack Lazorko 1985, Roy Howell 985, Craig Lefferts 1985, Luis Leal 1985, Luis Salazar 1985, Chris Welsh 1986, Chuck Cottier 1986, Jack Perconte 1986, Rollie Fingers 1986, Keith Moreland 1986, Carlton Fisk 1986, Carlton Fisk 1989, Kevin Brown 1990, Harold Baines 1990, Kirby Puckett 1990, Bret Saberhagen 1990, Denny Martinez 1991, Frank Robinson 1991, Ron Gant 1992, Joe Carter 1992, Robin Yount 1993, Edgar Martinez 1993, Paul Quantrill 2001, Jose Cruz Jr. 2003.

Impresses ME just because of the sheer amount of time and determination to click through and add all those cards to this offer!!!

I don't know, what do you think Spankee, would you take these 70 cards for your Diamond die-cut Zimmerman??

Well, that's all for today's little adventure in transmogrification.
