Updates!!

So, whilst shopping at Target last evening, I stopped by the card aisle for a few loose packs. Got some more $1.59 2010 Upper Deck Series 1, a gravity fed pack of Ginter. And a rack pack and a half of 2011 Topps Updates (which translates into a gravity fed loose pack and a rack pack).
Gotta hand it to Topps, adding the bronze colored bedazzled version of Series 1 & 2 into the update series is a rather nasty little trick, but at Halloween time, what do you expect?? And those cards look pretty sweet too!

Nope, no Phillies yet, maybe in the rack pack...

Two bronzes!! Nice! Hopefully I can find some Bronzed Phillies.

Nope, no Phillies in the rack pack, maybe in the next one, looks like I'll be headed back to Target! Maybe I'll look for a blaster at Wally world!
Damn, another 50 Kimballs to chase!! I haven't even finished the 1st 50, let alone the 2nd, now I've got a third to look for! That's just not fair. I wonder how much the LCS wants for a box of update??

~on a side note, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, please say a quick prayer that a cure is found for this dreadful disease. Personally I'd like for cancer to be one of those things you read about in the history books. My sister's best friend growing up is losing her battle this week.
Thanks,
Richard

Another Surprise..

and I'm an ASS!! I got this package too long ago to not have posted about!! Ryan, of
"O" No!!! Another Orioles Blog, sent me a surprise "FEMA" assistance package!

As I'm sure everybody's aware of, back in July, lightning struck somewhere in the GReat Dismal Swamp, starting a large fire that is still not completely out yet, leading to some very murky morning commutes, filled with hazy, smoke filled smog/fog. Even Ryan has been affected by this fire...

I live in the GReater Hampton Roads area, and Ryan is a city neighbor, lives in the GReater Richmond area, we live less than 2 hours apart by car. He was a lot closer to the earthquake that hit central Virginia back on August 23rd. To top that off in what I now refer to as the GReat Barbequed Martini Hurriquake of ought 11, was Hurricane Irene less than a week later, Smoked, Shaken, and Stirred!!!

Now, on to the goodies, Ryan sent me about a gazillion cards for my 2007 Topps Domination quest (thanks for the title, Troll):

Thanks for eliminating my Hurriquake fears with a flood of '07 Topps there Ryan! And please forgive my tardiness with this LONG overdue post. I am, indeed, an ASS!

Look for another post later today, I got some Updates and Highlights for you!

Surprises from Phellow Phillies Phreaks...

Last night, I received a surprise in my snailbox. (I'm composing this on Saturday, even though it won't post until mid-week).

I get home after a rather long Friday at work, to find an envelope from California? A name I recognize right away, Dan, though I've not had contact with him in a while (outside the usual blog reading at any rate).

What could possibly be in here? I know it'll be good. Heck, I've not received anything from the blogosphere that hasn't been good!!

I open the envelope to find:
Wow, what a GREat, no, bullshit on that, it was an awesome sight!!
What appears to be an almost complete Phililes team set from this year's Topps Lineage:

plus a bazillion and 1 minis of the Kimball variety for that set!

Holy Crap on a stick, he's single handedly knocked the snot out of that want list!!

Thanks for the surprise Dan, really made my night!!

Have a GReat day!

Another Non-Trade

The second of the totally one-sided offerings this week came from everybody's favorite Rays fan, The Collective Troll. Those that have not been keeping tabs, Troll has had a lot on his plate this year, from busted transportation, busted hand, to an ailing wife.

All is approaching normality in southern Florida, even as the Rays stormed through Texas. (Sorry Troll, I wrote this over the weekend)

But, once again, I digress. Late last week, or was it early week before last, well, I'm 85% certain it occurred sometime before this posting, my friend sent me a care package, actually it was ammunition according to his note:
He sent a nice selection of Phillies, along with a bazillion cards for my '07 Topps:

 Gold Phillies, Diamond Stars Phillies...

 Batting Phils...

 Catchin Phils...

and even an '07 Phil for that set!

Now that's a large dent, and the want list reflects these acquisitions.

Thanks for assisting me with my quest there Troll, I am now well on my way, I had hoped your Rays continued to play well, right up to the 2nd place finish behind my Phils!!

A Non-Trade Trade post...

Actually, this is the first of three. A while back, Matthew over at Number 5 Type Collection, posted a plea for assistance on his blog (you should really check his blog out, by the way) concerning his 1973 Topps collection. No, he was not looking to fill the set out, he was looking to rid himself of the excess from filling his set.

He posted a simple request, for those attempting their own sets, send him a needs list and he'd fill it out as best as he could. My request, as I am currently not collecting the '73 set, was to conclude everyone's needs, then send me a Phillies set from the rest.

Well, as with a lot of things lately, after posting this request, I promptly forgot about it!
Two email reminders for an address later, I get a rather thick PWE in the mail, lo and behold:

1973 Phillies

very cool, thanks for the '73s Matthew, they'll be an awesome addition to my Phillies binder.

Thanks for reading,
Have a GReat week!

Gintered again

picked up a single pack of 2011 A&G with the Blaster of Icons last week, an interesting pack:

Wow, an Ethiopian Wolf, sorry, I would have thought it'd be skinnier!!
(what, you didn't see that one coming?)

almost looks like a deer at first!

Over all, I gotta say this pack was a keeper, a Phillie, a Yankee, an Indian, a #7 jersey, and an Ethiopian Wolf!! I think Davis is mad, cause he doesn't fit in with my collections anywhere!! Just look at the look on his face! Sorry dude, you don't fit and will be traded.

Have a GReat day!

The last of the Blast

Well, over all, I must say this blaster was fun to open. I scored a few cards for my PCs and can hopefully turn the Francoeur into a Victorino here in a week or so.

Have a GReat week ahead!
