The view from my desk, part 4

How many folks can "see" a ballpark from where they sit? I'm very fortunate to have a spectacular view of Citizen's Bank Park. Now you are thinking, "I've seen posts between Dawgbones and Spankee, stating that they are in the Tidewater, Virginia area?!" You would be correct. When I moved into my new cube, the flip-front cabinet naturally lent itself to displaying my baseball stuff, and what better back-drop than C.B.P.

I found a nice night shot of the park and printed in out on the big color plotter, some careful maneuvering and taping gives me my very own ballpark view, even though my desk is almost 5 hours from Philly.

The view from my desk, part 2

Today's highlight is the top of my Filing cabinet, which shows some of the helmets I've collected over the last year. My main teams are represented, as well as the two teams from last year's World Series. The smaller helmets came from Baskin Robbins.
 

The Wife's Uncle tried to get me the Minnesota helmet, but did not realize the "M" was for Milwaulkee! But, as I spent five months in Brewers country (as well as Packers Country!) I gladly set this one out with the rest.

The view from my desk

Many of us have little decorations on our desks at work. I have more than most. I've also whittled down my eccentricities over the last few years. Changing companies, and changing desks around a few times, plus my ever changing interests have had a profound impact on the surroundings I seem to spend most of my waking hours at any more.

I've currently been averaging between 65-70 hours a week, which has allowed me some freedom to spend a little extra on my "home away from home". The next few posts will center around this collection.

Last November, while on vacation, I scored a few baseball related items for my desk. The first of which I am sharing today:

this little guy was actually on clearance at Big Lots in Bullhead City, Arizona. I tell most people venturing into the cube farm where I now work, just look for the baseball Pumpkin and you'll find me!! You'll also see the "What Baseball Team Should I Root for?" flowchart in this picture as well. I still get a chuckle out of that one.

Hey, being Greedy pays off...

A while back, Jaybarkerfan's Junk had a contest with bonus entries and much fun.
Long story short, I won and my winnings showed up last Monday. As I have been on travel part of this week, and trying to catch up with what I missed while I was gone, today is the first chance I've had at a real post. Enjoy:

Though I'm not a football fan, I am truly digging that Twins Future Legacy card, It's going to look so schweet in my Twins Binder. Thanks for a GReat contest Dude, you pulled off a good time on this one, especially since all you really had to do to win was enter. Yep, he sent stuff to everybody that entered the contest. Good times!!!

You got to love that title....

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner, thanks to my perseverance, I am the lucky winner in Justin's contest, over in Justin's World. Thanks for a GReat contest dude. I'll post my winnings when they arrive. I've got some other winnings to post as well but I'm running on about 4 hours sleep thanks to work...

I left my house here on the east coast Tuesday morning at 3:30, flew to Green Bay Wisconsin, drove an hour further north to Marinette to attend a meeting and review some drawings, which is why I fell asleep half way through the  All Star game, though I did get to see Fielder's homer. I still think the MVP of the game for the NL was that Rangers pitcher!!

I then start my Wednesday at 6 am  central time, leave there at 2, drive the hour back to Green Bay to wait for my 6:30 flight home. The flight from Green Bay to Detroit was short, followed by an over 2 1/2 hour wait delay for my next flight, back to Norfolk, leaving Detroit finally at 11, securing the exit row on the plane nets me extra leg room and I figure I'll have a nice hour and ten minute nap on the plane, WRONG!! Freaking 5 year old kid sitting behind me spends the hour kicking the back of my seat!! I still think I can feel the 10 indents from his toes in the small of my back!! and his grandmother says absolutely nothing!! REALLY?? You can't even attempt to teach this brat some manners!! I guess I need to start carrying some toy cars or something to bribe these kids with!!
Plane touches down half past midnight, and it takes another 15 minutes for them to find some idiot to guide the plane to the jetway. Really, you didn't think we were coming?? Finally getting to sleep around 1:30, in my own bed, is heaven, until the alarm goes off at 5 this morning!! But that's ok, with the work onsite, plus the travel time pay, I got 14 hours paid Tuesday and 16 hours paid Wednesday, and our customer is happy with the feedback, so it's all good.

And, I won a contest while I was away!! Doesn't get much better than that!!
