Spankee didn't just slip me a Mickey...
As I hinted at yesterday, Spankee did not just slip me a bunch of Mickeys in the mail. Also in and amongst the many Mantles was this little ole beauty:
Yep, he sent me one of the subject cards from his
And as I commented on that post, that is most definitely one nice pin-stripe (I personally own two Phillies jerseys and the pin-stripe is my favorite of the two). I have several cards of Jim Thome, both in Phillies and non-Phillies uniforms.
Thanks for the totally un-expected package there Spankee, really made my day when it showed up.
Thanks for reading.
Happy Humpday everybody!

Need your help...
Just a quick question:
Does this qualify as an official Bipping??
Even though technically, they're different cards? Even though it's one of my categories? Even when it's one of my favorite players? Even though I'm lovin every frickin card? So, what do you think? Did Spankee Bip me or not?
These showed up in my mailbox last week, unexpectedly, as far as I know, unsolicited.
Now all I have to do is figure out whether I owe him something for this, or owed him something for these, or maybe it's payback for something I sent him, I don't know.
The nice thing about trading with Spankee over at My Cardboard Mistress, I never have to worry about being disappointed in anything that shows up on this side of the water. And I know that he'll remind me if I owe him anything or whether this is just one of us getting ahead of the other (especially since these cards were not the only items in the package, nor the nicest either).
Back tomorrow with the rest of the story... so to speak.
Thanks for the Bipping(?) there Spankee. I'm trying to figure out whether I need to get even or not. Awesome selection of Mantles.

Things Are Funner on this end of the trade as well...
Completed my first trade with Things are Funner Here, a Phellow Phillie Phan.
I managed to pull a fast one on her as well, you can read about it here. She sent me back a very nice assortment of cards, ranging all over my categories:
though why she'd send me a Nationals player is beyond me? (even if he is wearing a Phillies uniform!)
but seriously, thanks for the cards, look forward to future trades.

A few short breaks...
You know, I just love this hobby. Reading all the great blogs out here always provides entertainment, and sometimes I even learn a thing or two along the way.
A couple of weeks ago, I was made aware of a new blog, The Diamond King, one of the first posts that I read on his blog was this one, I made a typically sarcastic remark, but also, really dug the subject card from this post. Two quick emails later, this beauty arrived in my snailbox:
Now, I would have been totally stoked, and pleased as all get out, but that was not the only card in the package. TDK also included these:
Two very cool Smidt cards for that PC. The Hall of Fame Leather and Lumber is Schweet!!
Now the only question I have (well actually I have two) is that Ticket Masters card: Is that a Derek Jeter card, or an Andy Pettitte card??
and just check out the personal note (I love these little touches), small package, more to come?? Hell, I did not expect anything when I made the original comment, and now I've got several cool cards.
Oh, the second question: What team/player/category does the Diamond King collect?
Thanks for the package,
I will find something to send back your way eventually.
Have a GReat weekend!

What's your favorite Comic Strip?
We all know Peanuts, probably the first major, well known strip to have featured America's past time in it's small frames.
Yours truly dearly loves Mutts, for obvious reasons, as well as Get Fuzzy. Both strips center around the adventures of our beloved pet pals.
Mutts tends towards the serious side of things on a regular basis, with two full weeks each year dedicated to Shelter stories. Two of my four girls are shelter pups and I would not trade them for a pure bred.
Get Fuzzy tends towards the hilarious interaction between the two pets and their human target. Every now and then, a strip comes along that must be shared. I've found 6 in my strip-a-day calendar that must be shared with my loyal followers, read on and see why:
Love the All-Star Error card!!
Thanks for peeking in, have a GReat weekend!

How do you write...
... when you've busted up your writing hand???
not very well. We've all wondered where our good friend Troll at the Plate has been lately, a few of us have know about his current trials and tribulations, but I don't think anyone has had a good indication of just how bad things went for him until I received a package in the mail this week from Southern Florida.
A while back, I discovered through the wonder of his want list, that I had a few cards for my good friend down south. As most folks I've traded with know, and there are quite a few of us out here, I happily sent the package his way, not asking for anything in return as I've been treated more than fair in my past dealings.
As most of us also know, and I have received such, a return package of often greater value (at least to me) is often sent. One such package was waiting in my mail box last Wednesday.
The Troll at the Plate never ceases to amaze me with his generosity. Sending me many Phillies:
Yes folks, that is a very nice looking Steve Carlton throwback light blue jersey relic, numbered 95/100.
He also manages to throw in some of the latest flyers from the 3rd sport I think I'd ever want to follow:
and check out the page for that night's Staffing Line-up:
yep, none other than our favorite Troll himself!! Way to go Marck!!
Thanks for another great envelope filled with awesomeness Troll!! Hope your busted hand heals quickly and correctly.
Thanks for reading everybody.
